On Feb 10, Bonita Vista High (BVH) 120-pound wrestler, team captain and junior Josue Garcia raises his fist after winning a match for the San Diego Section boys CIF Division II tournament at Orange Glen High. Garcia would go on to place first at the tournament, paving the way for his eventual promotion for the end-of-season statewide California tournament.

On Jan. 19, the Bonita Vista High (BVH) Barons boys’ varsity basketball team outplayed their league rivals the San Ysidro High (SYH) Cougars in a 70-51 victory. Early in the game, BVH power forward and Junior Aaron Owens (22) shoots a three pointer from far out to tie the score.

Earlier in the season, Hernandez wrestled in the 115 pound weight class, later bulking so that he could compete in the heavier 126 pound weight class.
