“My favorite cultural tradition is celebrating Hanukkah. I like to celebrate Hanukkah at my grandma’s house where all my family gathers around and we say prayers over the menorah. My favorite food to eat on Hanukkah is latkes, which are potato pancakes and my second favorite food to eat is sufganiyot, which is essentially a jelly-filled donut dusted with powdered sugar.”
“Probably holidays like Thanksgiving, because it is a day that you spend with your family. For my family and I,we like to watch football, hang out with each other and I like to wrestle with my cousins, so we do a lot of fun stuff. My favorite foods during times like these include a lot of comfort foods like turkey and mac and cheese.”
“Probably celebrating Dia de Las Muertos in Mexico with my family. It is kind of different each year, like when I was younger we would do all the traditional stuff like placing food for the dead and flower petals. But now since most of our family is older and there are less kids, we mostly just hang out and have family dinners. We still do parties and celebrations, like mariachi.”
“My favorite cultural tradition is during Christmas. We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve and we eat Mexican foods like tamales and pozole. Then we hang out until midnight, which is Christmas day, and we open our presents at midnight. We stay up a little bit after and everyone goes home, then they come back in the morning again to eat the next day.”
