Freshman: Lola Coleman (Girls Water Polo)
“I believe the greatest challenge most athletes face today is the mental aspect of the sport. I have been playing water polo for over six years and the whole experience is about your mental strength. If you know that you are able to play correctly and win [games], you will most likely win due to you putting your mental and physical strength into it.”

Sophomore: Bailey Gregoire (Girls Soccer)
“The greatest challenge most athletes face today is injuries. The hardest part about injuries is not the physical part but the mental part. Having to sit out and watch your team play knowing you can’t do anything takes a toll on your mental health. Also, once injured athletes are cleared to return to the field, it is constantly a mental battle with one’s self confidence.”

Junior: Edwin Flores (Boys Wrestling)
“I think the biggest challenge for athletes is not always having a good support system. I think in wrestling without a good support system [such as] teammates, friends, family and coaches, this can make practices, matches even harder and the sport in general starts to beat you down and you don’t get enjoyment from the sport anymore.”

Senior: Treyvon Davis (Boys Basketball)
“The greatest challenge most athletes face today is forgetting that the game they play is a kids game. They are so caught up in the losses or successes that they forget to enjoy themselves and have fun. All sports come to an end so don’t get caught up in it, just enjoy the process with the people who are in it.”
