At BVH Spanish substitute teacher and P.E. Coach Michael Albright plays a key role in both academics and athletics, making a difference as a Spanish substitute teacher and physical education coach. He is now stepping into the role of Assistant Coach for the Barons Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse team. Albright is committed to shaping students’ academic and athletic growth, inspiring them to reach their full potential both in the classroom and on the field. His dedication to both teaching and coaching reflects his passion for students.
“I enjoy being able to teach and help students discover new things,” Albright said. “Whether it’s in Spanish or P.E. I want them to know they have someone who cares about their growth and success.”
His aspect on teaching and coaching is direct in his boost towards both roles. Albright is known for having an engaging learning environment that inspires students to show their highest achievements, showing his passion for his students’ education.
“Spanish can be difficult for a lot of students, but I try to make it enjoyable,” Albright said. “I want them to understand the language’s relevance in today’s world and how it can help them in the future. It is not just about memorizing vocabulary; it’s about connecting to the language and culture.”
Albright’s positive enthusiasm is also shown in P.E. he covers a role where he coaches and it is visible that he motivates students to challenge themselves. His approach goes beyond physical fitness and into life skills like perseverance and effort.
“I tell my students that P.E. is more than just sports,” Albright said. “It is about pushing yourself, even when it’s tough. I want them to understand that hard work in P.E. translates into other parts of their lives.”
Albright prepares to set achievements for the assistant coach role for the Barons Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse team, he is eager to help students grow both athletically and personally. This positive attitude is noticeable in both his teaching and coaching, where he encourages students to push beyond their limits and grow not only as learners but as individuals.
“I’m looking forward to working with the lacrosse team and helping them improve their skills,” Albright said. “Lacrosse is a great sport for teamwork and I want to help the players become better athletes, while also teaching them life lessons along the way.”
Albright shows enthusiasm for the school community, showing him put effort into his job and students. Head varsity girls’ Varsity Golf coach and P.E. coach Tony Valdez is passionate about Albright’s upcoming role with the lacrosse team.
“He is a great fit for the lacrosse team,” Valdez said. “His positive attitude and the way he relates to the students are key. He brings a lot of energy to everything he does, whether it’s P.E. or coaching lacrosse.”
Albright’s deportment and flexibility by balancing his several roles stands out to his colleagues. He finds ways to make time for his responsibilities while staying dedicated to each one at the same time. Such as preparing not only his students on the field but also his students in classes.
“Being a teacher, coach and soon-to-be assistant coach means a lot of balancing,” Albright said. “But I enjoy it. I make sure to organize my time so I can focus on all of my roles. It’s all about putting in the effort and prioritizing what needs attention.”
Albright has a positive mindset that makes sure to accomplish career aspirations while he manages his time well. Head coach of Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse Sam Cardenas shares his thoughts on what makes Albright such an effective coach. He perceives Albright’s encouragement to motivate students as one of his greatest strengths.
“Albright connects with his players and that’s what makes him special,” Cardenas said. “He knows how to get the best out of them, both in practice and in games. He’s not just about winning; he is about developing well-rounded athletes.”
Balancing teaching and coaching can be difficult, yet Albright’s dedication to all his students not only helps his students but him to accomplish their goals. Valdez points out that Albright’s ability to motivate students makes him an excellent role model for young athletes. He expressed that Albright’s impact goes beyond in many ways, off and on the field.
“He has a way of making students believe in themselves,” Valdez said. “It’s not just about what they can do in sports; it’s about how they carry that confidence into everything else in their lives.”
Albright’s aim to help his students succeed is followed by his passion by the work he performs whether in the classroom or as a coach. Albright’s coaching wisdom revolves around advanced teamwork and encouraging individual growth. He believes that students need support, motivation and guidance both on and off the field.
“I want to help the players realize that every challenge is an opportunity for growth,” Albright said. “If they can learn to overcome obstacles, they’ll be better prepared for whatever life throws at them.”
His aspect on every student is that they are an individual and aims to help them accomplish in ways that go beyond just academic or athletic achievements, giving them all the support they can get, showing that they are not alone.
“I am excited to see how the [lacrosse] team develops this year,” Albright said. “It’s not just about improving skills; it is about building a team that can rely on each other both on and off the field. That’s my main goal for this season.”
