Dear Editor,
Reading the article “Yes/No: Should High School Students Have a Job?” by Dani Fincher and Cash Alexander gave me a fresh perspective on the pros and cons of having a job while going to school. I appreciated the persuasive points on both sides of the argument, as there isn’t a definitive answer to the question – it all depends on one’s current situation. For example, the article mentions how jobs can help students to develop communication skills. Including a personal experience from a student helped solidify this statement as they mention “I was super shy before I started [working] and now I am more confident with myself.” On the opposing side, I learned how excessive working hours can serve more harm than good, as it can lead to lower GPA scores and the likelihood of dealing with anxiety and depression. Another important point is that although jobs can help students develop important life skills, they also take away the freedom in their personal lives, such as socializing with friends and family. Reading this article allowed me to reflect on my own future decisions and weigh the costs and benefits if I do decide to have a job while going to college. Thank you for providing me with helpful information, and I hope to hear more interesting opinion articles like these soon.
Sincerely,
Renz Bulante
Dear Editor,
Besides the daily announcements, the newspaper is the only form of insight into our school culture and news. There’s so much to explore, and it’s interesting to discover what is happening behind the scenes. An example of this in the newspaper is the article “A Familiar Face at BVH” by Isabella Garcia. It speaks about the welcoming of PE teacher Daniel Schroeder. He is now a PE teacher here at BVH and was a former Bonita Vista Middle PE teacher. I know that many students here had him while at the middle school, and many of us didn’t know that he had moved to teach here. The newspaper provided insight into this topic; otherwise, we wouldn’t have known about it. What the newspaper editors and writers do is impactful. Thank you for all the time and effort the BVH Crusader team put into the newspaper. Keep up the good work, and thanks for allowing me to be more enveloped in our school culture.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Enriquez
Dear Editor,
My opinion about the article “Yes/No: Should High School Students have a Job?” by Dani Fincher and Cash Alexander. As a high school student, I’m most certain that all of my peers had at one point considered getting a job. It’s a huge responsibility that comes with both positives and negatives so I’m glad that this article can break down some of those aspects. What I appreciate most about this article is the structure of it. Instead of just blatantly listing the pros and cons of having a job in high school, the authors provide two perspectives on the matter. This approach allows the reader to consider multiple perspectives before forming their own decision. It’s also helpful that the authors included references to other articles that provided more perspectives from other high school students and helpful statistics. Although these outside references are useful, I believe that this article would have benefitted from the incorporation of insights directly from our school community. Using school-wide polls or conducting interviews with BVHS students could have provided more local perspectives and related more with the reader. Overall, this is a great article jam-packed with useful information and perspectives needed when thinking about getting a job as a high school student. I know that this article would’ve helped a lot back in my sophomore year so I hope to see more articles like this in the future.
Sincerely,

Dear Editor,
I felt as though the “A friend to all” article about staff member Oscar Paniagua was extremely heart-warming. I can seriously appreciate the fact that our school paper is publishing articles dedicated to staff members, especially since most of the time they don’t get enough credit. Oscar is a familiar face at Bonita, though I don’t have a close relationship with him as the other students mentioned in the article. The dedication he has to his job, being a friend to students and staff on campus, rather than just doing the bare minimum as a campus assistant is something that I can respect. I really enjoyed reading the article as it gives some of his background as a person, highlighting moments in his life and his struggle getting to a special place which we call Bonita Vista High School. I think that sometimes students on campus forget that our staff members are people too, who grew up in childhood similar to us and have feelings that can be brought up or down. The article does an amazing job at really humanizing Oscar, showing that he is much more than what is shown at the surface, more than just a staff member that many students may view him as.

Dear Editor,
I was very excited to indulge myself in this interesting and captivating article, “Barons slam the Eagles,” written by Aparri Tarpley in the Crusader. The article perfectly captured the team’s skill and resilience, showcasing pivotal moments from players like Adam Mitchell, Daniel Robitaille, and Luke Janssen. The Barons’ dominance in the first two sets highlighted their strategic prowess and teamwork. Despite a momentary setback in the third set, the team’s ability to regroup and clinch the game in the fourth set demonstrated their remarkable resilience. The final score of 25-21 reflected the team’s determination to succeed under pressure. Coach Luis Contreras’ praise for the players’ persistence and character resonates well. It’s heartening to see young athletes displaying such maturity and focus. This victory not only reflects the players’ dedication but also the coaching staff’s effectiveness. As a community member, I applaud the Bonita Vista High boys’ varsity volleyball team for their remarkable performance and look forward to witnessing more successes from this talented group. I look forward to reading more articles like this, I just wish I could’ve been mentioned in this article if it weren’t for this dumb, fat, swollen knee preventing me from playing.

Dear Editor,
After reading the article “BVH has a change of plans for the 800’s and 900’s buildings” written by Antoinette Gilbert and Liam De La Fuente, I now have a new visual and perspective on what goes on in the classrooms. I never knew that those classrooms were created because the schools never thought of the full 100% capacity. I walk past those classrooms every day, not thinking they were portable, even with me attending class in them. It never came to mind how the teachers felt about them and how they felt excluded from the rest of the community. I believe that teachers should feel comfortable in their environment because it can help them focus and can help with their jobs, and teaching students. I look forward to the outcome and renovation of these classrooms.
Sincerely,
Jasmine Vardeleon
