On Feb 25, the BVH boys lacrosse team played against the San Diego High (SDH) Cavers. Within the first minute of the game SDH scored and a few seconds later BVH would mirror SDH and the score would reach 1-1.

The Barons and the Cavers would continue a back and forth score for the first three quarters of the game. A major contributor to the game was senior David Posada (3), an attacker on offense, who scored multiple goals and assisted with plays throughout the match.

“There were some mistakes we made with dropping the ball but it’s been the best game we have had all year. We were neck to neck the whole game, there were some injuries and we ended up losing. Although, our offense was looking really good,” Posada said.

As the game continued, the score reached 9-13 in the fourth quarter. With thirty seconds left in the game, BVH scored a goal increasing the score to 10-13. Although, with 11 seconds left the Cavers scored another goal, and the game ended with a score of 10-14.

Despite the loss, the boys lacrosse team hopes that this game will act as a learning and developing experience. In fact, because of this game, senior Micheal Jefferson (6) now understands what to improve on.

“Based on this game, we are going to use more communication throughout the field in offense and defense. We want to get the ball around quicker, faster and with more precision,” Jefferson said.

As future games continue, the boys lacrosse will develop as a team and with their individual skills. Posada hopes the improvement of team chemistry will help assist in accomplishing their goals for playoffs.

“Our team chemistry has a lot of impact on how we play. We do bonding [activities] because the chemistry makes a big impact later in the season when we develop. My hope for this is to make it in the playoffs and get better as the season progresses,” Posada said.
