The new Baking club at BVH is offering students more than just baking tips, but rather a community for friendship and learning. The student-run club is led by several officers including Co-President Natalia Delgado, Co-President Natalee Contreras and Secretary Alia Armenta.
“[Bake to Perfection is] a place for everyone to make new friends and be social. If you have any interest in baking, even if you have never baked before, we [can] teach you new recipes and how to bake,” Armenta said.
Bake to Perfection is not just a club about baking, but to create a community for everyone. Aiming to support, the club invites anyone who is interested to meet in room 304, Mrs. Vargas room, every Tuesday at lunch. To find more information about the club they have an Instagram @baked2perfectionclub.
“We want to support everybody at our school and we wanted to include everybody that loved to bake and anyone who was interested in baking, or whoever really wants to be in the club,” Delgado said.
Not only do you get to bake and have fun in this club but you can gain valuable experience. Members have the opportunity to gain leadership experience through roles that can help them build responsibility and teamwork skills. Apart from that, members of the club can gain life skills such as communication, adaptability and organization.
“[Students] should join as a new opportunity. It gives you opportunities and experience in cooking and baking, and you could really see and find something that you might enjoy in our club,” Delgado said.
Co-Presidents Contreras and Delgado have big plans for the future of this club. They wish to expand the club then to pass it on when they graduate. The Co-Presidents also commented on the goals they have for the club.
“We want to make [the club] really big, and we want something that can be consecutive. We are juniors right now so we hope to pass it on to somebody else after we graduate.” Delgado said. “We want to be able to give back to our community…[by] fundraising and food donations.”
Founded only a few weeks ago, Bake to Perfection is already making space for students to come together to not only bake, but to make a community for all. Bake to Perfection is not like the other clubs. While many club meetings just simply sit in the classroom and discuss the club, Bake to Perfection is very different. During these meetings Contreras describes them as “hands-on.”
“[The club] brings our community together and makes a new community [in the process where] people can make new friends,” Armenta said.
