Carlos Cartlidge, Podcast Manager

I am a senior at Bonita Vista High School and this is my first year on the Crusader staff as a Podcast Manager. When I first heard about newspaper I thought of it as an outlet for my creative bursts of writing, hence why I joined. Since then, I've loved it from the beginning. Outside of newspapers, I am a part of Peer Counseling and plan to participate in a sport.

On Nov. 29, the Bonita Vista High (BVH) boys varsity soccer team played a home game against Vincent Memorial High (VMH). Aggression and competitive spirit imbued focus unto the players of both teams which ultimately led BVH to keep a high, flawless 5-0 score.

On Oct. 28, Otay Ranch High (ORH) hosted a Filipino American Student and Parent Conference event advised by President of the Council for Teaching Filipino Language Rizalyn Marquez-Cruz and ORH Counseling Staff Dinnah Donato-Palmore. The event known as Magkaisa explored Filipino culture and identity through art and inspirational stories.

On Oct. 25, the Bonita Vista High (BVH) girls’ Field Hockey team played in a rivalry game against Eastlake High (ELH) while donning pink printed uniforms for Breast Cancer Awareness. These uniforms signify the support BVH has to communities helping fend off against breast cancer.

The Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) decided that the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) was no longer mandatory for Bonita Vista High (BVH) students. However, students risk losing the benefits you can obtain from taking the PSAT.

On Sept. 22, the Bonita Vista High (BVH) Amnesty Club gathered in a meeting to discuss club activities and goals. Hosted by Jose Vallejo, a teacher at BVH, the club focused on the protection and education of human rights.
