I am a senior and this is my first year on staff for the Crusader as an Opinion Editor. I am excited to develop creative pages and collaborate with other staff members. I joined newspaper because I wanted to explore my interests and try something new. In my free time, I enjoy journaling and find newspaper to be an extension of that. Outside of the Crusader, I am Secretary for the Samahan club and a member of the Youth For A Sustainable Future club on campus.

On Dec. 4, senior Tiana Alanis and junior Jacky Olmos tie up as they simulate a live match in the Bonita Vista High (BVH) wrestling room. As of late, the BVH girls wrestling team has grown in members by a land slide resulting in a larger pool for players to practice with.

United States History, Advanced Placement African American studies and BVHs BSU advisor Don Dumas expresses his gratitude for various schools gathering at the district BSU meeting, allowing students to speak on their experiences as an African American student. Dumas attended the event as a presenter and shares experiences of his own as well.

BVH is bringing more established and experienced teachers into the district. BVH principal Lee Romero explains how as a principal, one of my responsibilities is to prepare and train our Assistant Principals to become directors or principals. Several teachers on campus are seeking positions as Assistant Principals. While this is a positive change for many staff members who may be moving up the ranks or relocating for a brighter and better future, gaps are left in the wake of these staff members.
