I am a junior at Bonita Vista High and this is my third year being a part of the Crusader staff. I am currently the Arts and Cultures Editor this year but was previously a Features Editor. I joined newspaper because I wanted an academic extracurricular in school and newspaper sparked my interest with the many different positions it offered. This year I am looking forward to working on my page editing skills and taking photos of the many important events that happen on campus. Outside of the Crusader, I am involved in clubs at BVH such as Key Club and STEM club.

During lunch, sophomores Ella Roberts, Mackenzie Koeppen, Charissa Dela Cruz, Sydney Asman and Maya Delgado pet one of the five therapy dogs, Floyd. On April 11, the Bring Change to Mind club held a Love On a Leash session, which many students were greeted by therapy dogs in room 408.

On Feb 10, Bonita Vista High (BVH) 120-pound wrestler, team captain and junior Josue Garcia raises his fist after winning a match for the San Diego Section boys' CIF Division II tournament at Orange Glen High. Garcia would go on to place first at the tournament, paving the way for his eventual promotion for the end-of-season statewide California tournament.

On Feb. 28, firefighter and paramedic, Taylor Nelson presented to the BVH Health Career Club about his line of work to educate those who may be interested in doing the same. Nelson shows students his father who inspired him to become a firefighter as he is a retired fire captain.

On Nov. 29, Chula Vista's Chula Vista’s Environmental Services Manager Manuel Medrano presented the Single-Use Plastics ban draft to Youth for Sustainable Future and Green Team. The bill consisted of restrictions put on items like balloons, straws, bottled water and other plastic items that will be affected under this draft.

On Oct. 14, the Bonita Vista High (BVH) performance band Club Blue performed a musical showcase alongside fellow schools of the district such as Eastlake High (EHS) and Mira Mesa High (MMH). Club Blue used this showcase to provide a visual sense of pride BVH has to offer.

BVH is bringing more established and experienced teachers into the district. BVH principal Lee Romero explains how "as a principal, one of my responsibilities is to prepare and train our Assistant Principals to become directors or principals. Several teachers on campus are seeking positions as Assistant Principals." While this is a positive change for many staff members who may be moving up the ranks or relocating for a brighter and better future, gaps are left in the wake of these staff members.
